Holohub (Immersive Learning Toolkit)

Production Innovation in Immersive Content

Aim

Holohub empowers businesses to embrace immersive learning solutions by giving them the platform to distribute training and track performance data across entire organisations.

Summary

Training employees in high risk professions can be costly, risky and at times dangerous. But running training exercises in a virtual environment helps to mitigate these factors, and even yield better end results. To address this, Glasgow-based Digitalnauts have created Holohub: a platform which hosts VR training content to upskill employees, tracking their performance and completion rate in order to upskill larged, dispersed workforces quickly.
The Holohub platform is built to host bespoke content created by Digitalnauts themselves, or to host existing external VR content. Businesses can purchase industry certified training courses specific to their need by using the built-in marketplace, or ‘Holostore’, opening an additional customer channel for other content publishers.
VR training is increasingly sought after in high-risk environments such as the construction and marine sectors, particularly in companies with considerable global presence, as it efficiently teaches complex technical skills while culling the costs of logistics and resources.

Target Audience

Construction and engineering
Health and surgery
Military and emergency services

Outcome

Digitalnauts has doubled their workforce and significantly increased its client base and turnover, due to the project’s success. Two of these clients are global ship management company Northern Marine Group and BT Group’s network company Openreach, for which they are providing crucial training to increase the accuracy of manual work and minimise accidents.
Digitalnauts’ next challenge is to expand their global market reach, make VR training accessible to all businesses and pioneer the mainstream adoption of immersive learning.
