Aim

Astonishing aims to eradicate loneliness in care homes by providing immersive film experiences for patients to share in real-time with remote family and friends, so they can have at least one stimulating conversation every day.

Target Audience

Stakeholders in the health and social care sectors, such as in hospitals, care homes, and anyone on their own or far-away from family and loved ones. The onset of the pandemic means that this type of technology is applicable to any type of person who is self-isolating or living alone.

Outcome

Over the course of the project, the team was able to analyse how families perceive immersive film, deduce where immersive film might be most suitable for families, when it might have the optimal benefit for those in long-term care and to what extent immersive film can reduce stress levels of patients.
